Shopping Local: Your Community

Shopping Local: Your Community

As businesses and restaurants have reopened, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some local businesses that share a passion for exquisite service and product. These small businesses like us have been serving the Oakville/Halton community for years. Here’s a short list of some of Blazer’s go-to local spots!

1. Local Take-out Option:
STONEY’S

Our favourite sandwich spot in the Oakville neighbourhood. Whether it’s the peameal bacon sandwich for breakfast or the store favourite Nové Sandwich for lunch, Stoney’s is a staple of the Blazer for Men diet. With the closing of dining spaces, Stoney’s has been rendered unable to provide the uplifting dining atmosphere many have become accustomed to. However their delicious and market fresh meals are available for pick-up. Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu but should you opt for a salad, we recommend the maple glazed salmon salad.

2. Patio Restaurant:
FIREHALL

No longer do you have to enjoy your favourite restaurants at home. With patios opening up, restaurants have pivoted to provide service outdoors. When we’re looking for a nice walk before dinner, we’ll walk around Bronte harbour before stopping by Firehall’s new expanded outdoor patio. At Firehall you can meet up with your bubble and enjoy a nice cold beer on a warm summer night.

3. Local Jeweller:
KNAR JEWELLERY

Sitting around during the lockdowns have you scrolling through Instagram? If you’re like us a few watches might have gone through your feed. Luckily Oakville’s finest jewellery shop is back open for business. Recently bringing in Grand Seiko (a brand which we have much affection for) Knar Jewellery carries some of the finest watchmakers and jewellery. Whether it’s a Tudor or Rolex timepiece or jewellery for you, your spouse or for a gift, Knar is the local jeweller to visit.

4. Barber Shop:
NEW YORK NEW YORK

As COVID restrictions have been lifted, barbershops have reopened. After months of social distancing we’re back to seeing others and needing to look presentable. Once we heard the news, our first appointment was to New York New York for a fresh cut, hot towel facial treatment and neck shave. Worth every minute of the quick trip down to Burlington, Sergio and his “pack” know how to make you look & feel good!  True professionals.

5. Local Grocer:
MONASTERY BAKERY

Named after the street you can find this local grocer on, Monastery is an Oakville pillar. Just down the road from Blazer off of DORVAL, Monastery has been faithfully serving the Oakville community for the last 30 years. Whether you’re looking for freshly baked bread, fantastic array of baked goods or cold cuts, Monastery offers the finest local selection. Should we make a suggestion, we’d have to go with their jalapeno bread. They also offer a great delivery service for those who are too busy to get to the grocery store!
